The Marantz Model M4 is an innovative, intelligent take on traditional distribution amplifier designs. With 8 channels of 100W amplification split into four independent zones, the Model M4 delivers no decrease in power even with all channels driven, giving you complete control over four separate rooms from a single chassis. Each zone has its own dedicated HEOS streaming module, analog input, USB-A input, and subwoofer output, so every room can play something completely different at the same time.
Four built-in HEOS modules let you stream your favorite music or TV audio independently or grouped across four different rooms. Each of the Model M4's four zones has its own dedicated HEOS streaming module, meaning four different family members can stream four completely different sources to four different rooms at the same time. HEOS supports a comprehensive list of music services including TIDAL (with HiRes), Spotify, Amazon Music HD, Deezer HiFi, Qobuz, SoundCloud, TuneIn, Pandora, SiriusXM, iHeartRadio, and more.
When a particular zone needs more grunt — large speakers in a great room, outdoor speakers, or a demanding home theater pair — the Model M4's Bridge Mode combines channel pairs to deliver up to 4 x 200W per zone, ensuring you have the headroom to drive even demanding loudspeakers in larger rooms.
The Model M4 includes four switchable mono subwoofer outputs with adjustable high-pass and low-pass filters (40–250 Hz / 40–120 Hz), letting you add a powered subwoofer to any or all four zones for room-filling, extended bass. Independent filtering per zone means every room is properly tuned for its speakers and dimensions.
Four assignable stereo pre-outs let you bypass the onboard amplification and connect external power amplifiers in any zone, perfect for rooms with very demanding speakers or for installations where the M4 acts as the streaming and control brain for larger amplifier stacks downstream.
Two optical inputs with onboard Dolby Digital decoding allow you to integrate TV audio into the multi-zone system. Stream TV audio from the main room to every connected zone using the TV Grouping feature, ideal for sports, news, or major broadcasts during gatherings.
MMDF is Marantz's proprietary digital filtering technology, engineered to reveal the natural detail and tonality in digital sources. Applied across every input on the Model M4, MMDF ensures streamed, optical, and USB sources retain the musicality Marantz has been known for over decades of hi-fi design.
Each zone can be tailored independently with bass and treble controls (±5 dB), balance (±15 dB), volume limiting, and a selection of sound modes including Stereo, Direct, Virtual, Dialog Enhancer, and Night, so every room sounds its best for whatever's being listened to and whenever it's being listened to.
Designed for custom installation, the Model M4 supports control via the HEOS app, IP / TCP-IP control for popular integration platforms (Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI, ELAN), RS-232, and four 12V triggers. Twin Ethernet connections provide network redundancy and clean integration into structured wiring.
As a HEOS-enabled device, the Model M4 can share music with existing Marantz hi-fi and AVR components, additional Model M4 units, or Marantz Model M1 streaming amps, expanding your multi-zone system across as many rooms as you need.
