One box runs the whole system here. The Amp Ultra is the flagship of the WiiM range, a streaming amplifier that puts the streamer, the DAC, room correction and a serious power stage inside a single machined aluminium chassis, with a glass touchscreen set into the front panel.
It earns its place in the main room of the house. HDMI ARC carries the television's sound, a dedicated output hands the low end to a subwoofer, and the line input accepts any analogue source with its own output stage. RoomFit calibration then measures the room and trims the response to suit it, which is the difference between speakers that sounded good in the showroom and speakers that sound good against your back wall.
The power rating is quoted with both channels driven, which is the honest way to quote it, and the output stage keeps its grip on difficult four-ohm speakers. The audible result is control at low volume on weeknights and composure when a film soundtrack asks for more on the weekend.
