Sonos Ray is a compact soundbar for a bedroom, study or smaller television where an optical connection is available. Its 56 cm cabinet can sit on shallow furniture, and the forward-facing acoustic layout means it can also live inside an open TV unit without firing sound into the shelf above.
Two tweeters, two midwoofers and a bass-reflex system are driven by four Class-D amplifiers. Ray decodes stereo PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround, then uses Sonos processing to keep speech clear and the front soundstage wider than the cabinet.
Optical is the only television input, so check the screen before choosing Ray for the room. Once connected, the Sonos app handles setup, Trueplay, Night Sound and Speech Enhancement, while Wi-Fi supports music services and grouping with other Sonos speakers.
