Sonos Beam Gen 2 is a compact HDMI eARC soundbar for a lounge that needs clearer television sound and Dolby Atmos support without the width of Arc Ultra. At 65 cm across, it fits comfortably beneath many smaller screens and keeps the installation to power plus one HDMI cable.
Five Class-D amplifiers drive the centre tweeter, four elliptical midwoofers and three passive radiators. Psychoacoustic processing creates virtual height information from Atmos content, while the dedicated centre channel keeps dialogue anchored to the picture.
Beam is also a full Sonos music player, with app streaming, AirPlay 2 and voice control where supported. Add a Sonos subwoofer or matching surrounds when the room calls for more bass and rear effects, rather than replacing the soundbar.
