Description
Monitor Audio Gold 500 6G Floorstanding Speaker
The Gold 500 6G is the flagship of the range and behaves like one. Two large bass drivers and a dedicated midrange give it an authority the smaller models approach but never quite reach.
Scale is the obvious difference. Orchestral crescendos and film soundtracks hold their shape at levels where a smaller cabinet would compress, and the extra cone area means it manages that without apparent effort.
Sensitivity is high for a four ohm design, so a capable amplifier drives it comfortably, though the bass repays real current when it is available. The load stays civil enough that a competent integrated will not embarrass itself.
This one wants a room with some volume to it and a listening seat at a proper distance. Given both, it is the model in the range that stops sounding like a pair of speakers.
