The SACD 10 is a disc player built at a point when most makers have stopped building them. It exists because a great many serious music collections still live on silver discs rather than on a server.
Its transport mechanism is the part that justifies the engineering. Resonance control in a spinning disc reader is what keeps the mechanism reading cleanly rather than correcting, and that job gets harder as a disc ages.
Beyond discs it accepts external digital sources over coaxial, optical and USB, so a streamer or a computer can borrow its conversion stage. Native support extends to high-rate DSD and PCM material.
Distortion and noise figures are low enough that the disc itself sets the limit rather than the player reading it. The balanced output feeds a partnering preamplifier without an extra conversion in the path. That is the point of building a source this capable into a reference system.
